Letter from the cofounders of OURS

OURS is a mission-driven company that is very present in the real ups & downs of couples’ relationships and lives. To date, we have been relatively quiet in commenting publicly on social issues. However, Friday’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade is so directly at odds with our mission that we are publicly taking a stance and taking action.

Our mission at OURS is to create a happier, healthier world through stronger relationships. Each day, we strive to achieve our mission by 1) Increasing access to happier, healthier lives and relationships for all people and 2) Equipping individuals with the skills, means and experiences to have stronger, better relationships.

The overturning of Roe v. Wade represents a decision to drastically reduce reproductive and human rights, restricting birthing people’s access to autonomy and healthy lives.

As such, Roe v. Wade’s reversal goes against what we stand for at OURS and we want to take the time to recognize the impact it is having and will have on women and families across the country. We know the sadness, disappointment, rage, confusion and helplessness that you may be feeling because we are feeling it right alongside you.

Over half of our employees are therapists. We recognize that our therapists are the people who hold our emotions, our heartbreak, our pain and change the world by easing that pain - and we’re deeply aware that they’re all going through the same heartbreak and pain themselves.

So, what are we doing about it?

For one, we reiterate that we remain deeply committed to our mission. To all women: we stand with you. We believe in your very personal right to choose what you do with your body and we support you.

Second, starting this week, we are offering a Medical Emergency Support Fund for our 15 employees, representing up to $1,200 each towards any healthcare or necessary travel costs for themselves, family and friends that employees can tap into with absolutely zero questions asked, ever.

Third, we are improving the support we provide to our Guides. We will host sessions to support Guides as therapists, as well as provide guidance & training on serving couples who are navigating the impacts of this decision and talking about it in their relationships.

Fourth, we are investing in creating a session that will be available for free on our website to help individuals and couples process this decision and navigate the impacts of overturning Roe v.
